What is BFBS?
BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) is a charity and media organisation that has supported the UK Armed Forces for over 80 years.
It make sure Service personnel, and their families, can access secure, trusted entertainment and stay up to date with the latest news - even in the most remote places on the planet.
What's included?
British Forces Broadcasting Service helps you keep up to date with what's happening at your base, in your local area, and around the world. It also helps you stay connected to life back home when you're serving overseas.
TV
Up to 16 TV channels on set-top boxes and over 30 channels on the TV Player for those based overseas. This includes live football, rugby, new films, podcasts, and gaming. You can watch on your mobile or a connected TV app.
If your internet connection isn't great but you are in a country within satellite reach - covering almost 70% of the world - BFBS can still give you 12 TV channels. These include BBC, ITV, new films and series, and live action from Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
For those serving overseas - in remote locations and at sea - BFBS MiPlayer gives you BFBS TV live and on demand, and BFBS Radio, digital newspapers, magazines and more. You can use it as a group or on your own device, even with little or no internet.
BFBS Radio
Listen to BFBS Radio anywhere in the world through the app, the website, or on a smart speaker.
In the UK, you can listen on DAB+, or on FM and AM in some parts of the UK and Northern Ireland.
Overseas, listen through your BFBS TV service. You can also tune in to BFBS Radio 2, which includes live sport from 5 Live and talkSPORT, news from Radio 4, and shows from Times Radio.
Local radio stations in Canada, Cyprus, Nepal and Gibraltar are part of the military community. They often hold live and online community events alongside their local radio shows.
Two BFBS radio stations serve the Gurkha community - the BFBS Gurkha Network, available across the UK, and the BFBS Samishran musica service, available on the website and app.
BFBS Cinemas
Cinemas are available at bases across the UK, in Cyprus and the Falkland Islands,
The Movie Machine travels around the UK, bringing the cinema to you.
Cinelink is a portable movie services that can turn a mess hall, welfare hub or community space into a cinema. It's an optional add-on that you can ask your local command to look into for your community - available worldwide.
Forces news and stories
Visit Force News and sign up to the newsletter for the latest military news and stories.
The Forces News YouTube channel has over a million subscribers. It covers everything from global military news to local community events, to unit activities and live military sport.
BFBS live events
BFBS puts on live entertainment for troops around the world.
It also supports community events in the UK.
Funding
You can apply for support from the BFBS Beneficiary Fund, which gives money to a range of projects.
